Sustainable Transformation To Empower The Poor – Urban and Indigenous People Trust
STEP U(i)P TRUST (Sustainable Transformation To Empower The Poor – Urban and Indigenous People Trust) was established in 2013 (registered number 72/2013) with the mission of reaching underserved communities, particularly children, women, and youth, to promote empowerment and improve their social and economic well-being.
The Trust supports children and young people in pursuing their educational aspirations, with a special focus on those from tribal and urban poor communities.
Rapid urbanization in India has created significant challenges for marginalized populations. Tribal communities living in remote and inaccessible regions face persistent barriers to improving their socio-economic conditions. These challenges are further compounded for the urban poor, who often lack access to basic services and opportunities.
Over the past decade, Step U(i)p Trust has delivered a range of services to excluded communities across India. The Trust has reached some of the most vulnerable tribal groups, supporting young girls in accessing higher education, improving access to health care, nutrition, and education for children.

In addition, the Trust has supported women, particularly widows and women-headed households, and families traditionally engaged in burial services in villages to strengthen their economic independence.
Step U(i)p Trust also envisions expanding its work to include mental health services for women, offering counseling to help them manage anxiety and depression. With the breakdown of traditional family structures and the pressures of urbanization, many individuals struggle to cope with rapid social change.
These challenges affect all sections of society but disproportionately impact the poor, who are often excluded from essential support systems. Our mission is to bridge this gap and ensure that no one is left behind.
